Celeb mums who prove age is no barrier to having a baby after giving birth after 44 - Irish Mirror

She’s the mother of ballroom dancing and Shirley Ballas is considering becoming a real-life mum again aged 59, by adopting a child with partner Daniel Taylor, 47.

The Strictly judge, who has son Mark, 33, with ex-husband Corky Ballas, said: “If you can give a home to someone who’s been in care, that’s quite important.”

But Shirley is not the only star to embrace motherhood later in life.

Natalie announced her pregnancy to the world in July 2019 and revealed she had used IVF and a sperm donor to conceive.

She said: “For those of you that know me, this has been something I have wanted for a very long time and I’m blessed that this is possible with the help of IVF and a sperm donor.

“I won’t be saying anything more on that publicly. I’m so excited about this next adventure.”

The singer gave birth to Max Valentine Imbruglia in October.

Tana Ramsay, 44

Tana Ramsay and her husband celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay welcomed their fifth child, Oscar, in April 2019, after Tara suffered a miscarriage in 2016.

Speaking of the anguish of losing a child, Gordon said: “We were devastated, but thankfully we’re through the worst now. “It could happen at any time
to anyone.”

The couple who have been married since 1996, also have Meghan, 22, twins Jack and Holly, 20 and Matilda, 18.

Alanis Morisette, 45

Pop star Alanis confirmed the birth of her and husband Mario’s third baby, Winter, in March last year in an Instagram post.

Alanis and Mario also have eight-year-old son Ever Imre and daughter Onyx Solace, two.

When speaking about juggling Winter, with work, Alanis said: “Coffee has become very helpful in that I’m sleeping a lot less.” She also spoke of postnatal depression admitting: “There are days I’m debilitated to the point where I can barely move”.

The Sex in the City star adopted her second child in 2018 - seven years after welcoming her adoptive daughter Gemma in 2011.

The actress has candidly spoken about her road to adoption, saying: “It had seemed like an option for a very long time.

“I felt like there was a child out there I needed to find that was my child. I can’t explain it. It was a spiritual kind of thing.”

In 2018 Hollywood actress Rachael Weisz and James Bond star Daniel Craig welcomed their first baby together.

Rachel has a son with film director Darren Aronofsky and Daniel has Ella, 28, with Fiona Loudon.

Rachel said: “The preciousness of a new life and family means so much more now I’m more mature and older. My son was a miracle, but doing it again now is very deep and very precious. I am very lucky.”

Brigitte Nielson, 54

Brigitte had her fifth child and first daughter at the age of 54 in June 2018, after almost a decade of failed IVF and being told there was only a 2.5% chance of success.

She said: “I was always like, ‘I want to do it until there are no embryos left. Somebody has to win the lottery.”

So when the Red Sonja star welcomed 5lb 9oz Frida with producer husband Mattia Dessi, she was “overjoyed”.

Janet Jackson, 50

Janet gave birth to her first son, Eissa Al Mana, aged 50, in January 2017.

Revealing her pregnancy, the singer said: “We thank God for our blessing”. She called off her world tour.

Janet also said a child has changed her perspective on life. She added: “I never knew I was as patient as I really am. I get up, I go to sleep.

"Everything is about him.”

Laura Linney, 49

Laura gave birth to her first child, son Bennett Armistead Schauer, aged 49 in January 2014.

He was fathered by real estate agent Marc Schauer.

The US actress said: “Having a child later in life has been wonderful.

"My being alive when he’s 50 is unlikely. Other than that, there’s no downside.

“I can remember being awake at 4.30am with him when he was an
infant and loving it.”

Geri Horner, 44

Spice Girls singer Geri welcomed her first child with husband Christian Horner when she gave birth to Montague George Hector Horner in January 2017.

Geri, who has daughter Bluebell, from a previous relationship, announced the news on social media, saying: “God bless Mother Nature.”

Geri had failed IVF treatment before getting pregnant naturally.

Cameron Diaz, 47

Actress Cameron this week announced her joy at giving birth to her first child at 47 with 40-year-old husband Benji Madden.

The couple, who kept her pregnancy secret from fans, who were amazed, have vowed to keep daughter Raddix out of the public eye.

Cameron said previously: “If I am blessed with a child, I would be overjoyed, but I am not feeling empty because I haven’t yet.”

She says Raddix makes her family complete.

Chloe Sevigny, 45

US actress Chloe is believed to be expecting her first child at the age of 45 with gallery director Sinisa Mackovic.

Back in 2016, Chloe credited her youthful looks to not having children, saying: “I think that ages women, especially when they have children in their 30s, not their 20s.”

However in 2018, when she discussed the amount of clothes she owned, she said: “It’s embarrassing. I better have a daughter soon or I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

It’s reported Chloe is about five months pregnant.
