TELLY bosses' snobbish attitude to reality stars on I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here! has forced Charlotte Crosby to sign up for the Aussie version of the cult show.
The ex-Geordie Shore star had longed to follow in the footsteps of her former co-star Vicky Pattison, who won the British series back in 2015.
However Charlotte repeatedly had requests to join the camp turned down, leaving the Aussie version as the only option.
An insider said: “Charlotte’s team have tried to get her onto I’m A Celebrity for years but they’ve always turned her down.
“When they used to feature reality stars she was either not famous enough or too late to the party.
“And after they put their ban in place a few years back, she was told it was impossible.
“Now she’s taking part in the Aussie version and she can’t wait. Charlotte is a huge name in Australia and they love her out there, so she’s easily favourite to win already.”
Charlotte confirmed the news this evening and tweeted: “Wondered why I’ve been quiet?!?! I'M ONLY GOING IN THE GOD DAM SOUTH AFRICAN JUNGLE for @ImACelebrityAU. Finally my dreams have come true. See you soon my jungle buddies.”
In 2016, Charlotte opened up about the reality star ban and blamed her Celebrity Big Brother win in 2013 on the rejection.
She told The Sun: “I can’t go on as they won’t have us, I’ve been banned because I was on Big Brother and they won’t follow suit.
“My fans were so upset because they want us on but it’s out of my control.”
Top Gear host Freddie Flintoff previously won the series Down Under and Charlotte is currently in hiding in South Africa, where the show is filmed.
When asked about what kind of contestant she would be, Charlotte added: You know I’d eat a kangaroo’s testicle and everything.
“I love I’m A Celeb, so much.”
