I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp host Adam Thomas has reacted to the news that ITV has cancelled the show.

Adam landed the presenting role on I'm a Celeb's aftershow for the first time last year, alongside co-hosts Joel Dommett and Emily Atack, but sadly that's the last we've seen of the trio on the ITV2 series after show bosses axed it because of high production costs.

Posting on Instagram, the former Emmerdale actor joked that it's a bit "awkward" for the long-running show to end just after he'd joined as a presenter.

He wrote: "Ok so this isn't awkward ... imagine your first ever presenting role on a show that's been running for years... you do one show and it gets cancelled!!

"u can't write it haha aww not gonna lie wish I could have had another go at it... but that's life! What a job what an experience at least I can tell my kids I was once a presenter!"

Adam added: "Thank you to all the team @itv2 was an absolute pleasure getting to know and work with each and every single one of you !

"Until we meet again x ps am now free for Panto... I'd say call my agent but I don't have one so please DM me haha great start to 2020 !!"

It was Extra Camp co-presenter Joel who revealed the show's cancellation on Thursday (January 9), writing: "Sad news - The time has unfortunately come to put Extra Camp to bed in its uncomfortable hammock.

"The show will no longer continue. It's been a huge privilege to be a part [of] a show with such a rich history filled with amazing hosts."

I'm a Celebrity will return later this year on ITV.
